Large straight trucks carry mid-size palletized loads that exceed box truck capacity but don't fill a 53-foot trailer. Cargo runs 22 to 26 feet of enclosed space. Capacity tops out near 9,000 lbs. The result is a practical middle ground for shippers who need more than a box truck but don't have a full truckload.
Common straight truck loads: 8 to 12 standard pallets, mid-size machinery and industrial equipment, multi-stop palletized freight, large MRO orders, furniture and fixtures, commercial kitchen equipment, and trade show materials. If the shipment needs enclosed transport, dock-height loading, and a single truck from origin to destination, a large straight truck is the asset.
Straight trucks also fit multi-stop dispatch well. A single unit can cover several delivery points on one run, direct from origin without hub consolidation.

A commercial truck with the cab and cargo area on a single chassis, with an enclosed cargo box typically 22 to 26 feet long. Capacity up to about 9,000 lbs. Dock-height standard. Used in expedited freight for mid-size palletized loads that exceed box truck capacity but don't require a full 53-foot trailer.
Up to 9,000 lbs. Roughly 8 to 12 standard pallets depending on size and stacking. Cargo area is 22 to 26 feet long and approximately 96 inches wide and tall. If the load exceeds these limits or you need exclusive-use full-trailer capacity, step up to a 53-foot dry van or flatbed.
Rates depend on distance, weight, urgency, and special requirements. Most straight truck freight is priced per loaded mile with fuel surcharge. Same-day dispatch, after-hours service, and multi-stop runs carry additional charges. Request a quote for an exact number on your shipment.
Yes. One of the main use cases. A single unit can run a route with multiple pickup or delivery points, direct and sequential, without the hub stops of LTL shipping. Provide the stop sequence when you request a quote and we'll price and dispatch accordingly.
Capacity and cargo dimensions. Box trucks carry up to 5,000 lbs in a 12 to 16 foot cargo area. Large straight trucks carry up to 9,000 lbs in a 22 to 26 foot cargo area. Both offer dock-height loading and enclosed weather protection. If you need more than roughly 5 pallets or more than 5,000 lbs, a large straight truck is the asset.
